NO17 SUMATRA MANDHELING

Musangas Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

Exclusive Arabica coffee from North Sumatra, Mandailing region, near the Bukit Barisan mountains. Its name comes from the local Mandailing tribe, famous for growing and processing coffee. The beans grow high in volcanic soil, more than 1500m above sea level, where fertile land and a favorable climate are perfect for growing high-quality coffee beans. The result is a rich, balanced cup with subtle nuances of aroma and an expressive, long-lasting taste. Typically, the distinctive character of Mandheling coffee beans comes from the wet hulling (Giling Basah) process. This process begins with harvesting the fruits before placing them in a manually operated coffee press chopper. This machine removes the skin of the fruit, not the pulp. The peeled coffee fruits are set aside to ferment overnight. This breaks down the layer of mucus under the skin of the coffee berries. The next day, the husk is thoroughly washed, leaving only a thin parchment layer. Then the fruits are dried in the sun for 2-3 days - faster than other methods. One of the characteristics of Mandheling coffee is its low acidity, so it can be enjoyed naturally without burdening the taste with additional ingredients. This is a great choice for those who don't like a bright acidity sensation. This coffee is characterized by an earthy aroma reminiscent of damp soil, subtly combined with a light herbal spice. This unique flavor profile becomes a cup of coffee whispering stories of earth, herbs and rain. 100% arabica
