About This Coffee

This amazing washed-processed coffee comes from our new green coffee partner, Muraho Trading Co. The coffee comes from the same Shyira washing station as our already sold-out Shyira Honey coffee. The fruitiness of the coffee makes it a real treat that leaves you wanting more. You can find blackcurrant, apple, and floral notes in the taste. Muraho Trading Co. produces coffee at their six washing stations in different parts of Rwanda. It founded the Shyira washing station in the Nyahibu region of Rwanda in 2017, after their previously established washing station in the Nyamasheke region had been a success. Muraho's desire was to further improve the taste profiles of their coffees and find new unique areas in Rwanda where they could both produce high-quality coffee and make a significant impact through specialty coffee. Shyira was born from this vision in January 2017. Shyira is the smallest of Muraho's six washing stations, which is the highest-located washing station in all of Rwanda, at an altitude of 1850 meters. The weather, soil, and altitude make the area an ideal place for top-quality coffee production. Shyira is about an hour's drive from Musanze, and when you arrive at the washing station, the views from the Shyira hills are breathtaking – a chain of volcanoes, the stunning mountain gorilla home forests, and the Gicice River waterfalls open up in front of you. The valleys, misty hills, and favorable weather make Shyira a truly unique and unparalleled place.
