About This Coffee

Jose Selver Barrera, known as Selver in his community, is the son of José Tobías Barrera, a coffee producer whose relationship with BonCafe, the supplier of this coffee, goes back many years. Selver learned about growing coffee at his father's side from a young age, along with other crops and livestock. At sixteen, he had saved enough to buy some land already planted with Parainema and Obata varieties; a few years later, his father gave him an additional 4 hectares. Today, Selver and his wife Yamileth live with their four children on 7 hectares, 5 of which are planted with coffee. Since 2018, he has been working with BonCafe and managing his farm using sustainable, organic methods, with the goal of acquiring more land and planting more coffee
