This 100% Kona peaberry is a beautiful example of the highly sought-after and distinct coffee bean, peaberry. Peaberry coffees are rare, comprising only 3-7% of the crop. These pea-shaped, natural formations of the coffee bean are thought to form when several pistils get knocked off the coffee flower, causing only one seed to form inside the coffee fruit rather than two. The Peaberry is highly demanded because of its great flavor and body. Aloha Star Farm is located in South Kona, nestled on the West slopes of the Mauna Loa Volcano, within the famous Kona Coffee Belt. What makes this particular offering rare is that it is composed of a unique blend of varieties - featuring Kona Typica, Red Bourbon, and SL34, harvested altogether, producing a remarkable flavor profile. We love this coffee as a pour-over, but it’s great brewed any which way. In the cup, it is clean, sweet, and balanced. Aloha Star Honeyed Peaberry shines with delightful notes of black cherry, peanut brittle, blood orange, and honeysuckle.
