Ethiopia Guji Gogogu #4

Bean & Bean Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

From the remote highlands of Uraga in Ethiopia’s Guji zone, one of the country’s oldest and most celebrated coffee growing regions, this coffee captures the beauty and resilience of its origin. Gogogu takes its name from the Oromiffa word for “dry” and from the mountain that towers over the region. Despite the challenges of the changing climate and rugged terrain, over 700 smallholder farmers cultivate their coffee with remarkable care and respect for the land. Produced at the Gogogu Washing Station, this coffee is grown among diverse shade trees and companion crops that support soil health and biodiversity. The region’s sandy loam soil is naturally fertile and well-draining, allowing farmers to cultivate high-quality coffee through sustainable land management. The variety, Ethiopia Landraces, is a collective term for the many native Arabica types that evolved naturally in Ethiopia’s forests and farms. Rather than a single cultivar or a post-harvest blend, these wild plants grow together, creating a cup that’s delicate yet expressive. A shining example of Guji’s classic profile with bright florals, soft fruit sweetness, and a clean, silky body.
