About This Coffee
Introducing the newest coffee to our menu, Moa’ula ‘Ohana. The story of its creation is a special one: Crafted by our lead roaster in collaboration with her family’s Hawai'i Island farm, this espresso blend offers a rare and expressive flavor profile: vibrant and floral, fruit-forward yet exceptionally balanced, with none of the roastiness sometimes associated with darker espresso blends. It features a yeast-inoculated Lempira variety grown on her family’s estate, paired with a washed Catuai. These two uncommon varieties were selected for their clarity, compatibility, and complexity—qualities that earned this blend an exceptional 96-point score from Coffee Review. It is not only our second-highest-rated coffee ever, but also one of just four espresso blends to receive a 96 score by Coffee Review in all of 2025. This also marks the first time we’ve featured Lempira, a rare hybrid variety whose resilient genetics and unique flavor potential are just beginning to be explored in Hawaiʻi. The result of this labor of love is a layered cup with wildflower aroma, notes of blackberry and sweet lemon zest, and a silky, clean finish. Designed to shine both as espresso and in milk-based drinks, the acidity is bright and gentle, but never sharp or sour. Much like discovering how unique ingredients can transform a dish (think fresh apple slices in a turkey sandwich), this blend brings together unexpected components in a way that’s surprising, delightful, and deeply personal.
