Colombia - Black Condor

Single Estate Coffee Roasters

About This Coffee

Known as the birthplace of Colombian coffee, the Tolima region has suffered greatly from the violence that has plagued Colombia. In 2019, the Black Condor Project was established by Forest Coffee to support farmers affected by the violence. In 15 villages, support with cultivation, processing and quality control has helped to increase coffee quality. This beautiful washed lot shows everything they have achieved. The profile is typically Colombian, with excellent clarity and definition. In the cup you can expect notes of sweet and juicy pear with a chocolatey mouthfeel. The acidity is well balanced, but not overpowering, with a lingering richness reminiscent of sweet dried fruit: one of those espressos we could drink all day. The project regularly organizes workshops with producers to emphasize quality and address processes such as fermentation, drying and cupping of their own coffees. Their coffee is processed in a mill in Gaitania, which now serves more than 15 villages in the Gaitania region.
