Each month you’ll discover new tastes and stories! This month’s Discover Monthly comes from DR Congo, where a tragedy has been unfolding in the east. Backed by the Rwandan government, M23 rebels seized power and now rule with an iron fist. Many have fled, and activists are on death lists - including our partner Marceline from Rebuild Women’s Hope, a women-led cooperative on Idjwi Island. Despite being in hiding, Marceline and her husband Bertin continue to buy and prepare coffee for export under extremely difficult conditions. This makes it extra special to share this coffee with you. For decades, people have sought refuge on Idjwi Island, where coffee has become an important source of income. Thanks to Rebuild Women’s Hope, we’re able to source this fantastic coffee and share it with you. It’s a washed arabica with a fresh, distinctive flavour - shaped by the island’s unique microclimate, rich soil and high altitude. Delicious!
