About This Coffee

Mejorado has emerged as Ecuador’s crown jewel in coffee cultivation. Despite its name suggesting a link to Typica, Typica Mejorado is genetically distinct. Recent studies reveal it to be a hybrid of Bourbon and Ethiopian Landrace, combining the best of both worlds in flavor and complexity. This exceptional coffee is cultivated by José Jijón and Francisco Vintimilla at Fincas del Putushio, a farm they established in 2024 alongside José’s father, Pepe Jijón, renowned for his work at Finca Soledad. Nestled at an impressive altitude of 2,222 meters above sea level, the farm thrives in nutrient-rich volcanic soil and a unique microclimate—ideal conditions for producing high-quality specialty coffee. Building on the legacy of Finca Soledad, Fincas del Putushio is committed to elevating Ecuadorian coffee to the global stage.
