About This Coffee

Although it is rare to find coffees from this country, Haiti is the Caribbean nation best suited for coffee cultivation. However, the successive natural, humanitarian and political disasters have weakened the entire coffee infrastructure and have had a negative impact on the quality of the coffees produced. As a result, we rarely have the opportunity to present specialty coffees (80+/100 pts. according to the SCA) from Haiti. Like Jamaican coffees, Haitian coffee is typically Caribbean, offering a rich and sweet body, citrus nuances, as well as notes of chocolate, raisins and nougat. It presents an excellent profile for espresso preparation. APCAB COOP COOPERATIVE The APCAB COOP cooperative is small, made up of 75 farmers whose farms average one hectare in size. The cooperative produces approximately 700 bags of green coffee per year. It pays its members 300% more than the minimum fair trade certification price.
