Situated at 2100 masl, the Chelbesa washing station is found in the Yirgacheffe region of central southern Ethiopia. Yirgacheffe translates as ‘the land of many springs’, and Chelbesa is surrounded by 1240 hectares of semi-forest smallholder farms with red‑brown fertile soils and dense vegetation. The area’s unique combination of topography, altitude and water sources, matched with traditional growing and processing practices, produce coffees with beautifully bright, elegant flavour profiles
