Eye of the Tiger Espresso

Equator Coffees

About This Coffee

This winter edition of our seasonally rotating espresso blend, Eye of the Tiger, shines with refreshing citrus and tropical fruit notes complimented by a caramel sweetness. This iteration represents two exciting new purchasing relationships from Ethiopia and Kenya, and one of our oldest, from the infamous Guatemalan farm El Injerto. The base of this espresso is a washed Ethiopian coffee from Limmu, in western Ethiopia. This coffee is grown at high elevations and meticulously handled, contributing a sweet lime acidity and subtle floral notes in the finish. This blend’s vibrant and complex acidity & subtle tropical fruit notes is owed to a Kenyan coffee from the Western Rift Valley. Tai Agri Farm is a 20-acre family-owned operation established in 2022. John Cherogony is the visionary owner, Valentine Togom is the manager. Together they are far-sighted, collaborative, and with great attention to detail. Both are founding members of the Rift Valley Coffee Farmers Caucus. Last, but certainly not least, we rounded out the blend with a washed Red Catuaí (lovingly referred to as Red Cat by the Equator team) from El Injerto & the Aguirre family. This complex coffee contributes subtle spice notes, a caramel-like sweetness, and most importantly, a creamy body reminiscent of greek yogurt.
