About This Coffee
This lot comes from the Rwenzori Mountains in western Uganda, a region where obtaining high-quality natural coffee is quite difficult. Competition for cherries is intense, and many DRUGAR coffees end up with high moisture content, affected by insects, or with mixed roasting levels. Norman has spent years building a trusting relationship with farmers in the area, and lately he has focused on training a group of larger growers in better harvesting and home processing techniques. The Coffee Gardens buys semi-dry cherries in pulp, with a moisture content of approximately 14.5%, then transports them for 12 hours to the Naturals Yard warehouse in eastern Uganda. There, the lots are carefully dried to a moisture content of 11% before being ground, sorted by color, analyzed, and prepared for export
