Gesha Village Estate Lot 54

About This Coffee

Since 2017, we’ve sourced from Gesha Village Estate, the extraordinary project of Adam Overton and Rachel Samuel in western Ethiopia that began in 2011. It is located just a few miles from the Gesha variety’s birthplace in the Gori Gesha forest. Their coffees have consistently stood out for their purity, elegance, and radiant florals. Lot 54 continues that legacy, unfolding with with rose and lychee aromatics, lifted by cherry sweetness, all woven around a refined floral core. The cup is graceful yet expressive. This year’s harvest was among the most difficult in memory. Unpredictable rains and rising temperatures sharply reduced yields across Ethiopia. Yet the coffees from Gesha Village remain remarkably concentrated, sweet, and intense - a testament to place, perseverance, and craft. While the low harvest means prices must rise, we remain deeply committed to this coffee and to Adam and Rachel’s work. We don’t abandon partnerships when nature makes things difficult, we stay because the coffee continues to inspire us. Village Estate started in 2011. We carefully pick lots with distinct flavors that do not overwhelm the floral core.
