About This Coffee

Panama Abu Coffee GW25 Washed Gesha - Single Origin. Abu Coffee; short for ‘Abuelo’, grandfather in Spanish, was named in honor of José Guillermo Luttrell Tedman, and to advance his dream of achieving what he considered the best in a cup of coffee, Gesha subjected to the highest standards of quality. That is why the aptly named “Abu” as his grandchildren used to call him, symbolises the passion, vision and legacy that the family wishes to preserve for generations to come. When we first met José Luttrell what stood out to us most was not only his passion and tenacity for specialty coffee, but his warmth and willingness to make connections. It was only several years later from that first initial meeting that we have finally managed to get a hold of some of his remarkable Gesha. This lot has been hand picked and undergoes a double-phased process. The whole cherries are fermented for 24 hours in closed tanks. Then the coffee cherries are pulped and dry fermented for 72 hours before being fully hand washed with mountain spring water. Once the coffee has been fully washed, it is dried on raised beds for 15 days. This immaculate and crystal clear Gesha is a perfect representation of not only Panama, but Jose’s reputation as an apex producer within the specialty coffee industry.
