About This Coffee

Orange Bourbon is a coffee variety that originated in El Salvador and was brought to Nicaragua by farm owner Alejandro Saldana. It’s known for its floral and fruity flavour—bright, expressive, and a little different. Because the cherries ripen to a soft orange colour, it can be tricky for pickers to spot when they’re perfectly ripe. It’s a small challenge, but one that adds to the story behind this limited micro-release. El Suspiro is the farm run by Alejandro and his wife, Maria Ligia Mierisch, part of the well-known Mierisch family. The farm’s first harvest often falls on Christmas Day. While Maria stays home with the kids, Alejandro heads out to the fields—making coffee part of their holiday rhythm. This coffee was introduced to us through our ongoing partnership with Finca Mierisch. We’ve sourced coffee regularly from the Mierisch family over the years, most notably the Santa Lucia Gesha, grown at the farm co-owned by Erwin Mierisch and Seven Seeds co-founder Mark Dundon.
